Store your tools, gardening gear, sports equipment, and more!
You've brought order to your pantry, desk, and bathroom. Maybe you've even tackled the clutter in your closet. But chances are, if you're like most folks, there's one room you've been avoiding organizing: the place where you (theoretically, at least) house your vehicles. While garages are great for storing everything from gardening gear to tools to sports equipment, they often start to look like the junk draw of the home. That's because they're where we dump anything that doesn't have a designated place (or anything that's too big to fit in the linen closet!). But it's easier than you might think to keep things in order. You just need a few great garage organization ideas to get you started. No matter how messy your space is, these tips and tricks will help you turn it from dim and dismal into your very own "Garage Mahal!"
We've included the best ways to organize your garage, including DIY ideas, hanging tools (like pegboards), and even consolidating paint (mason jars really are good for everything). You'll also find a few indispensable gadgets to help you on your quest toward zero garage clutter. Who knows, with all that freed-up space you might even want to park your ride in there again—though if you want to do something a little more exciting we've also included ideas to make space for a garage gardening station or craft studio. After you've finished, if you feel up to another project, make sure to check out our best toy organization ideas.
If you don't have a slat wall, or just want to get those cumbersome bikes even further off the floor, install bike hooks in your garage ceiling. Just be sure to find the studs first, so the ceiling will be able to handle the weight of the bikes.

There's a lot of love out there for pegboards and it's no wonder why. They're relatively inexpensive, easy to install and versatile, too, thanks to the wide range of hooks, bins and other accessories that are available to use with them. Plus, pegboards use vertical space, and that's always a good thing in a garage.

No muss, no fuss, and reasonably priced to boot, this storage rack will hold an array of implements like rakes and shovels. There are hooks on the side for smaller garden tools, too.
Instead of hanging on to gallon-sized containers of paint just to save the little bit left in them, try keeping the remnants in labeled Mason jars. Not only is it a space saver, but the jars look plenty cute and cheery lined up in the garage!

When getting your garage in shipshape you obviously need to find room for big things like tools and toys, but if you blow off organizing small items, the whole project can start to slide sideways. Drawer dividers are a great way to keep similar objects, such as drill bits, together if you have a chest or cabinet.

Wall-mountable, this rack for power tools also has slots for screwdrivers and room for a toolbox and extra batteries. It's easy to install and built tough from steel rather than plastic or wood.
Storing bikes up on a slat wall is ingenious enough, but get a load of those handy dandy tire racks which get the things that clutter garages the most off of the floor and out of the way. There's even room underneath the racks to stash a shop vac and air compressor, both also bulky and unwieldy.

With their vintage farmhouse vibe, peg rails are super charming. They're also handy for hanging up everything from a broom to Fido's leash. For extra convenience, install your peg rail next to the house door for things you'll need to grab on the way in or out.

One of the most important rules of garage organization is to use every bit of space possible. Here, a fishing pole rack, which hangs behind the family's four-wheeler, keeps rods and reels orderly on a wall that otherwise might not be utilized.

Slat walls are always a great way to get rid of garage clutter because they're so adaptable, but what we really love here are the bits of well-chosen décor (like plants, graphic flooring, and yellow walls) that add some visually-appealing elements to the room. With a garage this sharp, you'll definitely want to keep it spick and span.
