A manufacturer of pre-insulated copper pipe for heating and ventilation applications plans to turn its Upstate South Carolina production facility into its new global headquarters, state and company officials announced.
PDM US will also expand its manufacturing capabilities at the Rock Hill campus, including a nearly 20,000-square-foot addition and facilities to sustain casting and drawing equipment, including reinforced foundations, generators, cooling systems, and a mezzanine.
Company officials said the $18.5 million project would enable PDM to cast copper tubing in-house with entirely U.S.-made parts. PDM says it is one of the fastest-growing companies in the HVAC/R industry and that the expansion would make it the only completely integrated manufacturer of insulated copper tubes in the U.S.
PDM U.S. President and CEO Pasquale De Martino said the new process isn't only innovative but elegant and doesn't hurt the planet.
The project is scheduled to be completed by April and is anticipated to create 25 jobs at the Rock Hill site. South Carolina economic development officials approved a $50,000 grant to assist York County with infrastructure improvement costs related to the project.
