PHOTOS: Tour a Standard Room with "Enhanced Cleaning" at the Newly

We’re staying at the Pop Century Resort for a few nights and wanted to give you a chance to tour the room with us. Disney has been updating their disinfecting procedures when it comes to hotel rooms to better ensure the safety of guests in the time of COVID-19, so we kept an eye out for changes.

First off, if you’re staying at the Pop Century and want to use the Disney Skyliner, which has service to EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios, we recommend that you request the 60's Section via Online Check-In on My Disney Experience, as it is the closest set of buildings to the station, and therefore the most convenient for just zipping out to the nearest theme park in your own private Skyliner gondola.

We got a Standard Room. It was ready at 1:30pm, which is earlier than standard check-in time, but later than many might prefer when opting to check in early. If you absolutely need your room earlier, your best bet is speaking to a Cast Member at the front desk.

Looks like we wore the wrong MagicBand for our stay at Pop Century.

Pop Century has gone the minimalist way of many Disney resorts with crisp white bed sheets and white granite countertops.

This room has both a queen bed and a Murphy bed in the wall.

There are two big handles you can use to pull down the queen-sized Murphy bed. If you’re wondering why the bed has 8 pillows on it, it's for the extra queen bed. If you’re just staying by yourself, enjoy Pillow Mountain.

When the Murphy bed isn't in use, there's a small table and two chairs. The table folds up beneath the Murphy bed when it is pulled down.

This cute picture of a sleeping Pluto is behind the Murphy bed, complete with an overhead night light.

The bed has sets of lights on either side and the switches are built into the headboard.

There are regular and USB outlets and small shelves on either side of the headboard as well.

Beneath the bed, there's plenty of space to store suitcases if you’d like to free up space throughout the room.

Of course, a Warhol-esque Mickey smiles down at you as you sleep.

A phone is available on one of the bedside shelves.

Our window looked out at the grounds. We adore those ombre polka-dot curtains.

There's a small coffee station next to the window. A suitcase folding rack was tucked between it and the wall, and a trash can and recycling bin were next to it.

The coffee station has a built-in light and two outlets.

There are some plastic-wrapped cups if you need them.

There's still a Cuisinart pod-style coffee maker available.

We noticed the pod receptacles were incredibly clean, too.

The drawer holds coffee and sweeteners.

There's a mini-fridge in the bottom of the coffee station if you need to store food.

There was still an ice bucket and we checked: there are still ice machines operating. There are vending machines as well.

The thermostat was on the wall next to the kitchenette. If you find it isn't cooling adequately, feel free to call Guest Relations; they will send out a maintenance crew to your room (remember to wear your face mask!) to swap out the filter or fix any issues so you don't have to suffer in unbearable Florida heat.

This coat rack is perfect for airing out your face masks. (In any case, we still recommend bringing a whole pack… these aren't exactly "fresh" the next day after a full day at the parks.)

The TV is straight across from the bed, so you can fall asleep watching "Must Do Disney" or the Walt Disney World Today loop.

The TV can be moved slightly so you can get a better view at the table if you want.

All of the TV's outlets are labelled so you can connect any gaming consoles or streaming devices if you’d like.

The TV remote is wrapped in plastic and sealed with a "cleaned" sticker so you know it has been disinfected since it was last used.

This sign lets us know exactly where the hospitality Cast Members have focused their "enhanced cleaning" efforts.

The image on the sign doesn't exactly match the layout of our room, so you can get an idea of what other rooms might look like.

Beneath the TV is a dresser/cabinet. On the counter top are regular and USB outlets.

In the cabinet is the standard safe, so you can store important belongings like a passport while you’re out at the parks.

The first section of the bathroom has a sink, shelving, and some closet space.

The closet has plenty of hangers.

There's an ironing board hanging on the wall.

There's a box of tissues on the counter next to the sink.

The iron and hair dryer are in a cabinet.

The shelving is mostly empty. The room still provides some hand towels.

A spare tissue box and roll of toilet paper were on a higher shelf.

Facial soap is boxed up next to the sink.

Through another barn door is the toilet and shower. There's another trash can in here as well as more towels and spare toilet paper.

This shower also has some fancy sliding doors.

Like the TV remote, the pumps of the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash have been disinfected and sealed.

There are plenty of towels in here.

All done! Time to open one of those plastic cups and drink up some Coke.
