The obstruction affected services heading towards Weymouth after a train hit a trolley on the line at Poole.

The incident was first reported shortly after 8.20pm with disruption and delays lasting until 10pm.

A spokesperson for South Western Railway said: "We were informed that a train had hit a supermarket trolley on the line at Poole.
