All Aldi shoppers know the panic of trying to keep up with speedy checkout staff when it comes time to unload, pack, and pay.

Things are usually made worse when there is a long line of customers behind you, with some admitting to crumbling under the pressure.

No matter what Aldi you shop in across Europe, the same challenges are met, so much so that people have shared ways to slow down the checkout process to tip the scales in their favour.

A number of customers have gone as far as to scrunch up the barcodes on the packaging to ensure they don't scan first time.

Meanwhile, others throw their shopping straight back into the trolley and deal with packing the mess when they get to the car park, and one customer said all you need to do is simply ask staff to take it easy.

But one shopper who proudly shared their own trick on Facebook faced a bit of a backlash from others, who say the lightning-fast checkouts were one of the main benefits of shopping at the supermarket, and even went as far to say they should be banned from the store.

A photo shared on an Aldi Facebook group shows individual items spaced out all the way down the conveyor belt, forcing the checkout staff to wait for them to slowly reach the till before being able to scan them through.

It was captioned: 'In your face Aldi. Just so we got time to pack' and really divided opinion in the comments below, as people were torn over whether the tactic was genius or infuriating.

One person responded to say: "People like you packing their bag at the register is so annoying and selfish. Try packing at the bench like everyone else," as reported by News.com.au.

Another snapped back: "If you can't handle it, go to Woolies or Coles OR actually use the bench supplied for packing which is away from the checkout."

And a third added: "I despise when people do this."

But not everyone was so critical, as others thanked them for sharing the tip and even suggested they would try it themselves next time they visit the shop.

One wrote: "Ohhhh I love it! Packing at Aldi should be an Olympic sport!"

And a second said: "Round of applause – this is genius."

However, two members of the facebook group who said they work at Aldi revealed that it's a trick many customers try to employ - and they have their own methods to overcome it.

One staff member replied: "I have customers do this, I just put my arm up to move the belt, let it all build up then start scanning."

And another said they do exactly the same, writing: "When I worked at Aldi and people did this, I would hold the first item back from the sensor with my arm until everything piled up."
