A woman has shared an easy hack to unlock a trolley from the shops if you don't have a £1 coin on-hand.

It can be a hassle when supermarkets require a £1 coin for trolley use, especially if they don't offer cashback and you need to do a big shop. However, a recent viral clip from a mum-of-three reveals that there are alternative ways to unlock trolleys.

The woman, who posts on TikTok under the username @tasha3212 has blown users' minds due to its surprising simplicity, writes the Mirror.

Captioning the post, she wrote: "When some lady shows you this at Tesco, how am I only just learning this?"

Tasha's simple trick doesn't require a pound coin, but you will still need some other change.

The TikToker shows themselves placing two 20 pence pieces in the slot for the £1 coin, stacking the change on top of one another. The trolley was released and Tasha was able to start her shopping without the need for a £1 coin.

The clip has now surpassed 1.4 million views since posting, and hundreds are flocking to the comments, with many users gobsmacked by the revelation.

"Fabulous," one wrote, while another added: "Wow."

One person claimed they always swear by the hack, saying: "Me and my husband always do this."

Some were also keen to share their alternative methods, including a user who claimed: "A pin works too! used to work at Farmfoods and our badges if inserted right while pushing it in unlocks it."
